Bio– Out Loud Audio is the 2008 Maroondah FReeZA Group. We consist of twelve music lovers from all around Maroondah, aged between 16 and 21. We have been working together since January '08 to bring the community awesome live music events. We're extremely commited to bringing young people good times in the safe environment of EV's Youth Centre, with our smoke, drug and alcohol free gigs.

Crew – The range of interests in Out Loud Audio is huge, from a nurse to a DJ, a petrol station cashier to school students. However, this doesn't mean we don't work well together - We think Out Loud Audio is one of the best FReeZA groups Maroondah's seen. Amanda Anguillesi, Youth Programs Worker from the Maroondah Youth Services is the FReeZA worker for Amplified Productions. She is always open to new ideas and suggests ways to make them achievable. Amanda is great to work with because she jokes around with us and can have a laugh but knows when it is time to knuckle down and get things done.

Events – This year there's a big variety of gigs planned, including recently held EV's Unplugged and National Youth Week celebrations, annual Metalfest and Punkfest, an Electro night, and two Battle of the Band's - one for the Push Battle comp, and one privately held.

Highlights - Since we've only held two gigs, I'd have to say EV's Unplugged has been our best gig, though Youth Week raised a bigger crowd. The acoustic/indie night went off without a hitch, which was amazing for our first ever gig. The intimate location of the Nosh at EV's, and the cushions provided for seating, added to the intimacy of the event. We all had heaps of fun, and got great positive feedback.

Community Support – National Australia Bank sponsored the Youth Stage at Maroondah Festival '08, which we helped to run. We are working on getting other sponsors in the community to support out events, particularly our battle of the bands.

Bio – Quiksound Productions has been running for over 9 years now; the philosophy is to put on events that will attract all groups of young people in the City of Monash and promote a positive image of young people in the community.

Crew -  Twelve dedicated and enthusiastic young people connected to all different areas in the City of Monash with a variety of different music and artistic interests. The committee are all very motivated and welcoming of new members.

Events - We run drug, alcohol and smoke free events that are safe places for young people to come and have a good time. During 2008, we ran the Glen Waverley Festival, New Skool Rulez, Battle of the Bands and a trivia night. In the past we have also been involved in running air guitar competitions, film festivals and often have different themes at our events.

Benefits - Not only does our FReeZA group provide a great opportunity to get a hands-on experience with the music industry, but also gives young people a safe environment to meet new people from their area, and gain valuable social skills.

Advice - It is vital that you review your events. Quiksound look at the pros and cons of each event in order to see what worked and what didn’t. Furthermore, you need to attempt events that you have not run before. If you are unsure what works in your area, or are possibly thinking there isn’t a need in your area, then the best way to find out is to try something new. Promotion is essential to a successful event. Some of the mediums used by Quiksound Productions are street press magazines, local and major newspapers, council bulletins, radio shows, forums, myspace, word of mouth, flyers & passes, posters, mailing lists, train station promotion and selling tickets.

Community Support - The committee are always looking for ways to include local businesses and organisations into the events. Recently, we have had involvement/contributions from Boardworx, L.J Hooker, Syndal Music, Mr. Music, Studio 52, WACT Productions, Melbourne Snowboard, Local Scout groups, Southern Ethnic Advisory & Advocacy Council (SEAAC), Eastern Drug & Alcohol Service (EDAS), Multicultural Arts Victoria (MAV), Church groups, Brentwood Secondary College and much more.

Bio - 3Phase Productions has been running since the beginning of time. We are basically just a big group of gals and guys that like music. We often spend most of our meetings shouting memes from ‘I can haz cheeseburger?’ and lolcat literacy is highly regarded in all committee contexts. We welcome you unconditionally. Join us. It shall be grand.

Crew – We are aged between 14 and 24. We like trains, weather, music and the game. If this profile sounds like there’s heaps of in-jokes, it’s because there are. Don’t let that put you off. The thing we all have in common is a good, honest love of music - so if you share that, we will get along really well. Although we work hard on all of our events, we have plenty of time to socialise too. Most of us have made great friends through FReeZA, and we often go to other shows together.

Events – Ice swans.

Highlights - The big highlight is that everyone gets along pretty dandy. We get free pizza at gigs, we have an awesome FReeZA leader, and all our gigs are pretty fun. Good experience, good times, great classic hits. GOLD.

Benefits - We are lucky enough to have the Camberwell Civic Centre in our area. We have had some really big headliners over the years, and we love that we can play host to All-Age gig lovers from across the state. But we don’t just do gigs – we have also done film festivals, skate and BMX competitions, trivia nights and even stuff like a Music Industry Career Information night. We help create loads of drug and alcohol free entertainment for the community, and offer opportunities for young people to have their talents recognised.

Advice - Promotion, promotion and promotion. We try and let schools know what we are up to. We really rely on other people spreading the work about local events. Why not add us on myspace and help spread the magic?

Community Support - We are grateful to a whole range of local businesses including Music Junction, Bladeworx, Fist2face, Stay Human and all the local schools. back to top

We have Fun, a high quality of bands and gnarly staff

Biography – Soundwave is in its 5th year of putting on events for young people in the Shire of Yarra Ranges.

Crew – Soundwave members are very diverse. Everyone has different tastes in music and hobbies, and different styles. We love the diversity, so we welcome new crew members from any kind of background. The more the merrier!

Events – Over the years, Soundwave has gained a reputation for putting on great events that are well attended. 2008 saw Soundwave hosting the Eastern Regional Final Battle of the Bands with headliner, The Getaway Plan, which was a huge success. The committee is looking forward to putting on events that are different from anything we have done before.

Highlights - Hosting the Eastern Regional Battle of the Bands final. There was a lot of people who attended, but the committee worked well to pull off the event without a hitch. The Getaway Plan were a huge hit with everyone!

Benefits - The Shire of Yarra Ranges covers a huge area, with much of it being far away from public transport and recreation facilities. A lot of the young people in the Shire think that there isn’t enough for them to do and they are bored. FReeZA events mean that there is something for young people to look forward to.
FReeZA is also great for committee members. They gain valuable skills in the music and event industry, and make some special friends. Although there is a lot of work around organising an event, Soundwave committee members also love the group for the social aspect.

Advice -
Teamwork
Promotion
Passion

Bio - Initially established in 2006, Fusion has gotten their claws stuck into the local and regional music scene by holding youth-based events covering all music styles. Incorporating all aspects of a happy, healthy new age life style, Fusion hopes to continually improve on what the community has to offer the youth community.

Crew – The Fusion team is as different as chalk and cheese with the age demographic ranging from 15-20 years old and the preferred radio station never being decided upon. Though all our members acknowledge some aspect of the music industry as their ultimate drive in life, their music styles and personal quirks are really different. Couldn’t think of a better way to create a unique event than by a driven, diverse group of young people!

Events – Throughout the year Fusion continues to produce a wide range of edgy, funky, widely noted events attended by lovers of music from all walks of life. Event themes of late have had a heavy focus around the hardcore scene with the Manningham youth community showing huge support for both local and regional acts. Fusion this year are venturing into uncharted territory teaming one of our largely successful music events with a skate comp to create a more diverse range of entertainment activities for the youth community.

Highlights - The Fusion team’s excitement for the Hardcore Halloween is at a high with both this event and FReeZA Palooza gathering growing numbers to add to an awesome line up of skilled musicians. Anticipation and expectation for these events to come this year is at a high.

Benefits - FReeZA Fusion has been very beneficial to the Manningham youth community by providing locally based events with easy accessibility. Not only has Fusion provided events for the youth but also enabled local talent the chance to get out there and be heard by their fellow peers. The Fusion committee is compiled of students and youths who study and live in the Manningham area, by conducting FReeZA these committee members also have the benefits of being an active member in the community whilst incorporating their passion ... MUSIC!

Advice - The flamboyant Fusion committee members would all give you different advice on what creates a successful FReeZA event, but the one aspect agreed upon is the organization for a fun, lively, smooth sailing event. Without this passion Fusion would not exist and such events shall not be held.

Community Support – Fusion receives full backing and support from Manningham City Council on all events conducted, with the Hardcore Halloween being held in conjunction between FReeZA Fusion and Manningham City Council. This support enables future events to function.
