Bio – The current committee has been functioning since July 07. Our philosophy is to create as many opportunities as we can for bands and particularly local bands to play in an area starved of music events for young people.
Crew – Our committee consists of a great and diverse group of mainly secondary college students that are all keen to get things happening around here. Musical interests within the committee range across the spectrum . Our FReeZA Worker, Martin is a school teacher and musician who used to play in bands in Melbourne. He really enjoys being involved with the FReeZA committee.
Events – We aim to provide secure, well-run events with great music. We spread the events around the shire of Bass Coast and try to vary the mix each time.
Highlights - Our Battle of the Bands series in 2008 was pretty big: 12 bands over 3 events. We also hosted the Gippsland Regional Finals which was a good night.
Benefits - FReeZA is extremely valued by this community for a number of reasons. It provides events for kids that are too old or too cool to go to the Blue Light Disco but too young to see bands in pubs. It provides playing opportunities for local bands and as a result encourages young players to get more serious about their music. It also provides the opportunity for young people to be seen by the wider community to be organising events for their own peer group. For bands it helps them tap into music networks that may further their careers: Push Start is a great example of this.
Advice - Good planning; a dedicated committee; good advertising; good bands
Community Support – We have support from local businesses: especially C-Mark Music (Wonthaggi); Shadow Security (Wonthaggi & Phillip Island) and excellent co-operation from both of the secondary schools in this area: Wonthaggi Secondary College and Newhaven College as well as the VCAL group that operates out of the Adult Education Centre.

Bio - The Pumpit! FReeZA Committee is entering its fourth year with a new name and fresh image. Our committee consists of two males and five females with heaps of skills and a passion to bring events to the Latrobe Valley. The committee is comprised of youth from various backgrounds including people that are doing apprenticeships, going to TAFE, attending secondary school and young people with disabilities. We have a great group and welcome any new young people that want to be a part of our Pumpit!FReeZA Committee.
Events: Those coming to our events can always expect good music, the chance to meet new people and catch up with friends. We aim to have a really awesome time in a safe drug and alcohol free environment. We are really keen to explore some new ideas in 2009 and hear from other Latrobe Valley youth about what they would like Freeza to do in the future.
Highlights - Our annual battle of the bands event is often the highlight of each year. The 2008 event attracted a lot of young people and stackz of local music talent. It was awesome to organize and turned out to be one of the best events we’ve had. We always get asked when our next Battle of the Bands is!
Benefits - FReeZA gives local young people something fun and safe to do. Young people in our area often have to the city for good entertainment so its great to have local activities for young people to enjoy.
Advice - Get organised early!! Be willing to have fun and go with the flow.
Community Support - We are lucky our community does support our events, by donating prizes and giving us good deals on event logistics. We also get support from local businesses by advertising our posters on their shop windows.

Bio - The committee has been growing in membership since March 2008. The committee structure provides an opportunity for local youth to initiate and conduct innovative events.
Crew - Our committee has 13 members from a variety of age groups with interests covering hip-hop, metal, disco.
Events - A safe secure alcohol free event occuring in suitables hours. This allows for parents to have a stress free night knowing that their children will be home at a suitable hour without any influence of alcohol.
Benefits - It means that the younger committee members to get experience in contacting music industries, knowledge and opportunities to perform, taking charge of event logistics and being able to make something happen. It means that the youth of our community get to experience activities other than sport such as discos and comedy nights.
