Crew - FRESH ENTERTAINMENT is a small group of volunteers who dedicate their time to providing a range of different events within the local Frankston region. Their aim is to entertain and satisfy the local community, mainly focusing on the younger age groups.
With 10 young, active Fresh members, the majority of music genres are accounted for as many local bands turn to Fresh for one of the best outlets to getting their music known and heard. Creative ideas are always put forward as the Fresh crew look to expand on what they already have and by broadening the fundamentals of gigs at a local level.
The crew benefits from being a part of such a professional committee and takes pride in their well planned events as the attendees are pleased and are enjoying the safe and entertaining events being held.
Fresh are determined to work on minor improvements and move into 2009 with a clear vision and a common goal to retain the reputation of providing well enjoyed gigs and events for the local Frankston region.
Events - Fresh always have 'fresh' ideas and have created enjoyable events with positive feedback, such as 'World On Fire' and 'Battle of the Bands' gigs. Fresh not only organise their own events, they are also asked to take part in the organisation and planning of other various community events spread over a diverse range, including the All-Abilities Dance Party, Drown Out Community Swim, and the launch of Headspace at Frankston Skate park, held by other event organisers.
Highlights - Fresh are most proud of the events built from scratch.
Benefits - Helping to launch the careers of bands such as, ‘The Getaway Plan’, ‘Pro Team’, ‘No Way Out’ & ‘Carpathian’. We get a really big kick out of helping local bands as much as we can, plus its great experience for the Fresh crew who love the opportunity to be so involved in something.

Bio - The Impakt FReeZA committee has been running for 3 years. We always make sure that music of all genres are showcased at our gigs. We have weekly meetings to plan our ace gigs which means we get to hang out eat food and talk about music, what more could you ask for?
Emma and Jody are our workers who help us out with planning the gigs and give us opportunities in training and take us out on camp's / excusions!
Crew – We are twelve young people ranging from ages 14 to 20. Each committee member is individual in their music tastes, which include pop, electro, indie, rock, punk, hardcore and metal.
Events – A good time, cheap food, and maybe even a hot date!
Highlights - Our Rosebud gig in late 2008 was our first gig to hit 500 patrons. A great effort considering access to the show was limited.
Benefits - providing accessible events for young people who don't have access to social events in their area as we are quiet isolated with poor or no transport, keeping people entertained and providing a safe night out for patrons.

Bio - Minus18, established in 1998 through PFLAG (Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays), are the first and only group to organize and run underage social events for same-sex attracted and transgender youth (SSATY) in Victoria. Whilst the majority of our events take place in the Melbourne CBD and surrounding suburbs, we attract an audience from across the state and even have patrons from interstate attending.
Minus18 events offer a safe-space for SSATY to have a dance and a chance to meet other like-minded youths through mingling, meeting new and old friends, and having a great time.
Committee members and volunteers are found in meetings, sending and receiving emails, and making phone calls simply to ensure Minus18 continues to run for the queer underage youth of Melbourne. The committee and volunteers are the lifeblood of Minus18 and without their organization and determination for Minus18 to be what it is; it simply would not run.
Crew – 10 SSATY committee members and a huge number of volunteers aged between 16-21 years form Minus18, all dedicated to making ever single patron’s experience of queer culture/their first dance/encounter with other SSAT youth a blast.
Events – Minus18 started off with SSATY underage dance parties and the Midsumma Gay and Lesbian summer festival, and has moved into incorporating smaller cultural and social events in-between. You will find the Minus18 committee at Pride March, the Queer Film Festival, the Daylesford Chillout Festival, various SSAT youth and GLBTIQ launches, and running events during school holidays.
Highlights - Some Highlights for 'Minus18' over the past year are:
* This year Minus18 celebrated 10 years with a masquerade dance party and a host of performers and games. This year the committee will be re-connecting with people and organizations that have supported Minus18 over the years and launch into new events and programs for the next couple of months.
* During Midsumma, the gay and lesbian cultural festival, Minus18 held a chill-out zone and Junior T-Dance at the Carnival day, and marched down Fitzroy Street for the closing Outgames ceremony and Pride March.
* Early this year Minus18 got involved in the first Asia Pacific gay and lesbian Outgames and participated in the youth forum of the Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Conference being hosted as part of the Outgames.
* Last year’s ninth birthday party turned out to be an absolute success, with attendance estimated around over 500 SSAT young people, where a new record was set and a milestone reached. What was amazing was that the atmosphere of Minus18 and the crowd was as friendly as ever, welcoming newcomers and old hands into the mix. Entertainment was aplenty, with 5 DJs across two rooms. The main floor also saw a juggler/circus arts performer, dancers, and Drag Queens. To top that all off the appearance of a dancing panda throughout the night confused and disorientated all.
Community Support – The Victorian AIDS Council support Minus18 events in supplying and promoting safe sex information. Both 3CR and JOY 94.9 have given continued support over the years and spread the word around Melbourne radio airwaves, and both gay press, MCV and Bnews, have published and covered Minus18 events and progress. The Gay and Lesbian Liaison Officers (GLLO), of the Victorian police, who bring such joy with their ever-ready pack of Uno cards, attend most Minus18 events. Minus18 is also supported by the Rainbow Network, project and community workers and school staff working with SSA queer and questioning young people, who have helped support the committee by spreading the word of our events throughout their youth groups and networks. The Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Trans and Queer community as a whole need to be thanked for the ongoing support of the Minus18 program over the past 10 years.

Bio - Popcorn productions has been running for 8 years. Our philosophy is bringing the young people of Bayside together through arts & culture - music in particular - as it is common ground for young people no matter what walks of life they come from.
Crew - Our crew would have to be the coolest. We all have a passion for music but our taste does differ to some extent. We have committee members of all ages, with our youngest member 12 and our oldest 23. Organising events is what we all have in common, but what makes us so flexible is that we all have different interests outside of FReeZA.
Events - MUSIC! No matter what event we are running from the Battle of the Bands to an art exhibition to an awards ceremony, there will always be music. We understand the importance of setting a positive atmosphere at the events. This year the events we are holding are Battle of the Bands heat one, two and the final. St Kilda Festival, MAM awards and the art exhibition.
Highlights - Our favourite event to organise and run is the Bayside Push Start Battle of the Bands. We always get really high numbers of young people attending and enough bands enter each year that we can run two heats. It is really great to see so many young bands aspiring to achieve their goals and having fun in the process. We love working at the event, meeting and working with up-and-coming artists.
Benefits - The benefits for young people in our area vary. Some of the benefits include providing constructive feedback, awarding and recognising young people for their contributions, giving young people a place to display their wonderful work, and to be able to run all the events in a fun and safe way, allowing all young people to contribute and be a part of the event.
Advice - To run a successful event you firstly need to be able to work together as a team. You also need to be organised and plan your event well and not leave things to the last minute.
Community Support - PLW Productions recording support us by donating a full day of recording to the winner of the Bayside Push Start Battle of the Bands. Mega Brain records also support the Battles by donating their time to judge all three events for the past three years in a row. We also get much support from local schools at all our events from art teachers helping young people enter their works in our annual art exhibition, to music teachers encouraging and supporting their students to enter the Battle of the Bands.
FReeZA Means - FReeZA gives young people the opportunity to contribute to our community in a fun and exciting way. We learn how to put on events and meet new friends along the way. It also allows new and upcoming bands to play to a crowd and gives heaps of young people something to do that they're interested in.

Bio - Electric Productions was established in 2005. As a result of the great work that Electric Productions does, the team continues to consistently grow, with other committed young people coming on board and sharing their new ideas and enthusiasm.
Electric Productions provides local bands with the opportunity to play live gigs so that they are not only developing their very own fan base but are also getting the confidence to perform in front of a larger audience.
Electric Productions provides the youth of Cardinia with the opportunity to attend the best events, catering to all styles. As well as this, our young patrons can be sure to be blown away when attending our events, with our crazy crew ensuring an entertaining and amusing event for all!
Crew – The stars at Electric Productions are made up of 16 livewires, aged 15 - 24. Music tastes vary quite vastly amongst our members, thus providing the right recipe for very colourful meetings! The skilled members at Electric Productions have expertise in performing, event management, sound, promotions… and also specialise in always having an awesome time during committee meetings and at events.
Events – Not only can the youthful spirits that attend events expect a great night out to remember, they will also have the chance to experience entertainment that is unavailable any where else (Why? Because the Cardinia Shire events have the secret ingredient of Electric Productions). The guys at Electric Productions host a range of events which are organised to impress the varying taste buds of Cardinia youth. Of course you can expect events such as the annual Push Start Battle of the Bands, however Electric Productions also hosts events such as the Pool Party (what not a better way to spend a hot Summers day, than to laze around by the pool with your friends, whilst listening to a showcase of acoustic talents).
But wait there's more… we also host nights such as the Music Industry Evening which provides young music professionals with the opportunity to learn more about opportunities and the tricks of the trade! Of course the crew aim to please, providing attendees with entertainment and competitions to amuse all throughout the evening, with great prizes to be won at our events. WOW! and that's just a few of the things that we do… If this paragraph needed to be summed up in one word, one would have to say that the Cardinia Shire events are simply… ELECTRIC!
Highlights - The Pakenham Hall was rockin' on Friday June 27, during the Push Start Battle of the Bands 2008! The turn out was outstanding, the bands were spectacular and clearly it just wasn't enough for our attendees who now keep telling us that they want more… and why wouldn't you want more when you have the likes of our (very game) Mc's deciding to dress to impress. Their means of doing this was by dressing up as a chicken, penguin, pig and bear. This never to be seen act of team spirit and dedication delighted the audience as our fury friends pranced around the stage and interacted with the attendees … have we mentioned that Electric Productions aim to please and are guaranteed to amuse? The crowd certainly went wild during the "Name that Riff" competition, where one lucky punter won an Electric Guitar. Imagine this… a big, bright yellow, fluffy duck rocking out to the tunes of Blink 182, Fuel and ACDC. The crowd's response said it all. Then there was the wacky Air Guitar Competition; what can we say… you had to be there to believe it!
Benefits - Electric Productions considers FReeZA to have a number of interrelated meanings of significance:
1. FReeZA is an outlet for young people to express their musical talents and encourages other young people to take on an interest in music.
2. Young people can feel confident that they will be safe when attending a FReeZA event in their local area.
3. FReeZA is an opportunity for bands to gain confidence and to promote themselves.
4. FReeZA enables committee members to become skilled up in areas such as event management, sound and lighting and performing and is a great way to meet other young people who shares similar interests.
Community Support – We have received community support from The Music Store- Pakenham, McDonalds, Leading Edge and Pony Music. Local real-estate agents such as (Barry Plant and Stockdale & Leggo) have also been kind enough to sponsor real-estate boards which is a fansatic means of promotion. Local schools and businesses have also been involved in promoting our events through advertising in shop windows and in school newsletters. Music professionals have also donated their time for events such as the Push Start Battle of the Bands.

Bio – In the beginning the idea was simple - hold a successful music event for the young people of Stonnington. But the process of turning this idea into reality proves again and again to be an exciting challenge to meet. Especially for a bunch of kids on a couch... Starting life in the late 90’s the City of Stonnington’s youth events committee met each year to plan and run its annual youth festival ‘Live: from Dusk ‘till Dark’. This annual event was a huge success, however the LIVE committee dreamt of more. It dreamt of golden beaches and turquoise waters and a day where all ages events, planned and organised by young people, were as bountiful and beautiful as the grains of sand on its golden beach.
The pull of this dream was so powerful that in 2003 the LIVE committee metamorphosised, and emerged from its cocoon with one mission, to provide young people in Stonnington with high quality all ages music and cultural events… Soundslike Productions was born.
Crew – Behind closed doors, at a not-so-secret location, sit nine kids on a couch. Sometimes eight, sometimes ten… it all depends. We’re all on the Soundslike crew for different reasons, some because its valuable work experience, others just love the music but when it all comes down to most simply come for the food!!
We’re a diverse bunch. Diverse in age, musical taste, schooling background and interests and this shows in the variety of events we put our hand to. Some like rock, indi, punk or hip hop, some are interested in production & recording and some simply love organising events.
Sometimes crew members will have ongoing involvement for a bunch of events and some just want to help out with one sort of gig… be it Hip Hop, Fashion, Skate Comps or other.
Events – Over the years Soundslike Productions has had many successes, working with bands such as Gryoscope, BodyJar, Illzilla, Illy, The Galvatrons, Frenzal Rhomb, Mirror House Antics and more.
Our skate comps have featured the current world number 1 vert rider Renton Millar along with Tony Hawk who needs no introduction.
Our cultural events have featured a range young fashion designers and given them the opportunity to work with and learn from the best in the industry, such as Jenny Banister and Lisa Barron.
Annually Soundslike Productions partakes in the Push Stage at the St Kilda Festival, hosts a Push Start Battle of the Bands, co-ordinates the Expression Fashion Gala & Festival and has more recently branched into the realm of Hip Hop hosting the spectacular Mix Tape `09.
Highlights - Working with the Cultural Infusion Freeza crew to put on Mix Tape `09 has been a highlight. Building that partnership between local inner city communities to oganise and run a hip hop event that showcased headliners such as Illzilla & Illy along with battles for local MC's, breakdancers and beatboxers was rad. Having Lawrence Leung as a guest judge for the breaking battles was cool.
Community Support - We have worked with businesses and organisations such as Revolver Drums, Obese Records, DMC, Chapel off Chapel, the US Consulate and many others.

Crew - All committee members have an interest in event management and a passion for providing young people in the City of Greater Dandenong with an avenue for artistic expression.
Events - Throughout the year the committee will work with local communities and groups to develop events that are responsive to what young people want in the area. Events will focus on cultural dance, music and art, live band performances, games and activities.
Benefits - FReeZA provides an opportunity for young people to make decisions about the events that are available in their community. The committee is a great platform for networking, building confidence and leadership skills, along with all aspects of event management that go along with the planning, preparation and delivery of events.
Community Support - So far this year FReeZA have begun work with Footprints Inc, to plan and organise the ‘Grounded’ event to be held in June during Refugee Week.
